This occurred concurrently with the US and UAE signing an agreement to add the nation to the “Global Entry Program.”
Soon, UAE nationals holding a US visa will be granted accelerated admission into the country.
This occurred as the United States and the United Arab Emirates inked a deal to add the nation to the “Global Entry Programme,” facilitating Emiratis’ cross-border travel. The initiative will go into effect in October 2024.
An effort called Global admission aims to speed up the admission process into US ports of entry. The initiative will improve security and speed up the immigration process for visitors to the US.
Travelers who have been pre-screened for Global Entry can skip the lengthy lineups and extra paperwork by checking in right away at a Global Entry kiosk at a US Customs and Border Protection Preclearance facility or when they arrive at another US port of entry.
To enter the US, participants in Global Entry must still possess a valid US visa.
The government authorities of the United Arab Emirates and the United States of America will collaborate to establish and complete the requirements necessary for the UAE to fully join the Global Entry program.
An agreement between the US Department of Homeland Security and the UAE Ministry of Interior was signed by both nations. The formal visit by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed to the US coincided with the signing.
Yousef Al Otaiba, the UAE ambassador to the US, stated that “this arrangement constitutes another step forward in our shared efforts to boost bilateral security and facilitate business and travel.”
“Emirati citizens who apply and are approved for the Global Entry program will be able to enter the US using the Global Entry system at 75 airports in the US and other countries once the UAE and the US finalize consultations,” he continued.
