The nation’s tourist industry generated almost 800,000 employment and contributed 12% of the GDP last year.
According to Minister of Economy Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, the UAE has strict safety and security measures in place, thus the country is not concerned about how the political unrest in the region would affect the travel and tourism industry.
The minister emphasized on the second day of the Future Hospitality Summit in Dubai that the UAE’s tourism industry is expanding year over year and has the highest occupancy rate in the world, both of which are indicators of the sector’s robust growth.
There have been issues in the UAE and the surrounding area for many years. The leadership of the UAE maintains transparency. We also have some of the best security and safety procedures. We are pleased and proud of the UAE’s highest safety standards. We also observe that tourism numbers are expanding year-on-year likewise,” Al Marri said in answer to a query about any concern over the regional war between Israel and Hezbollah at a conference on Tuesday.
Approximately 800,000 employment were created and 12 percent of the UAE’s GDP came from the tourism industry last year.
“I want to see the contribution from the tourism sector rise to 16 percent.” Our course is correct. The first half of 2024 saw roughly 73 million travelers handled by UAE airports. Millions of tourists stay in the 1,200 hotels in the United Arab Emirates.”The first half saw the greatest hotel occupancy rate in the world, at 80%. We observe the influx of fresh talent, the expansion of F&B, and the recent Michelin Star event in Abu Dhabi. Al Marri stated, “There are several happenings and things are happening.”
The minister went on to say that every emirate in the nation offers guests unique competitive strategies and experiences.
There is a military confrontation between Israel and Hezbollah that has now spread to Lebanon. Targeting Hezbollah, the Israeli military invaded Lebanon on Tuesday.
Nonetheless, given that the battle is limited to the Israeli-Hezbollah conflict, many prominent figures in the hospitality sector think it will have minimal to no effect on the Gulf region.
domestic travel
Thirty percent of visitors to the United Arab Emirates were from within the country prior to the Covid-19 outbreak.
“We lost that seventy percent when COVID-19 struck the world.” We had to turn around and figure out how to make the most of domestic travel. We had to change. We searched the nation for ways to get to the 50-50 mark, and we found that there is a lot of spending, extended school breaks, and winter vacation. For economic reasons, we cut back on weekdays from five to four and a half days,” Al Marri recounted.
“We started the Coolest Winter Campaign after considering the potential for domestic travel. In the UAE, domestic travel is much sought after,” he continued.
