Iran is getting ready to attack Israel with ballistic missiles, according to reports from international news media that cited a top White House official on Tuesday.
According to the official, measures to defend Israel against this are actively being supported by the United States.”Iran will face catastrophic consequences if it launches a direct military attack against Israel,” the official declared.
The development comes a day after Iran’s foreign ministry said that it will not deploy forces to Lebanon or Gaza to confront Israel amid Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) launching ground offensive in Lebanon to target the Iran-backed Hezbollah, whose leader Hassan Nasrallah was killed in an Israeli air strike last week.
Iran has declared that it will bring about Israel’s “destruction” following the death of Nasrallah.Nasser Kanani, the spokesman for Iran’s foreign ministry, earlier stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran does not need to send additional or volunteer personnel.
According to AFP, Kanani stated that fighters in the Palestinian territories and Lebanon “had the capability and strength to defend themselves against the onslaught.”
Kanani told reporters in Tehran, “We have not received any request in this regard from any side; on the contrary, we are informed and are certain that they do not need the support of our soldiers.”
Despite demands for a de-escalation following a week of airstrikes that claimed hundreds of lives, the Israeli military has stated that its ground forces have conducted raids against Hezbollah in south Lebanon and have mobilized additional personnel.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu referred to Iran as a “curse” last week while speaking from the UN podium. He claimed that the war could stop right now if Hamas would only give up, lay down its weapons, and free all of the captives.
“Hamas will regroup, reassemble, and strike Israel once more if it maintains its hold on Gaza. Thus, Hamas must be removed. If Hamas does not give up, Israel will battle “until we win ultimate victory,” according to Netanyahu.
