Ignoring international pleas for a cease-fire with Hezbollah, Israel persists in its bombing campaign, which has resulted in hundreds of deaths in Lebanon and stoked concerns about a full-scale Middle East conflict.
Over the course of the last 24 hours, Israeli attacks have killed at least 36 Palestinians in Gaza, including 15 in the most recent attack on a school in northern Jabaliya that was providing refuge to displaced civilians from the war.
Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin says that despite Washington’s “red lines” over Israel’s attacks on Gaza and Lebanon, the US will support Tel Aviv as it obtains a fresh $8.7 billion military aid package.
Gaza officials are protesting Israel’s “inhumane and unethical approach” of treating deceased Palestinians as they attempt to deal with a truck container containing 88 unidentifiable bodies that it has returned.
In Israel’s attack on Gaza, at least 41,534 people have died and 96,092 have been injured. At least 1,139 people were killed and over 200 were captured in Israel on October 7 as a result of strikes spearheaded by Hamas.
