With the launch of significant renewable energy projects, two UAE companies have made significant progress in reducing emissions of greenhouse gases.

A 1.2 megawatt-peak solar power system was successfully inaugurated on Monday by Dubai Investment Real Estate (DIR), a leading UAE real estate developer, Al Mujama, the UAE’s leading owners association, Yellow Door Energy, the leading sustainable energy provider for businesses in the Middle East and Africa, and Clyde Engineering.

This was done in accordance with the UAE’s Net Zero by 2050 Target and 2050 Clean Energy Strategy. In Dubai Investments Park’s premier residential community of Ritaj, the solar power system spans nine residential buildings. In the first year of operation, more than 2,000 solar panels on the roofs of the buildings have produced 1.9 million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity, satisfying 30% of the buildings’ energy requirements.

This amounts to lowering annual carbon emissions by 756,000 kilograms. Al Mujama saves a lot of money by operating the project under a solar lease without having to spend any of its own money on capital.

“This project aligns with our strategic vision of promoting innovation in the real estate sector,” said Mohammed Bin Hammad, senior director of jointly owned properties at Dubai Land Department.

This collaboration demonstrates the significance of working together to achieve sustainability objectives by utilizing the sun’s energy to meet a significant portion of the Ritaj residential community’s needs.

Obaid Salami, general manager of Dubai Investment Real Estate, stated, “By generating clean energy, we are fostering a greener, more affordable living environment that benefits communities today and secures a healthier, more resilient future for generations to come.”

Dubai Venture Land is the land arm of Dubai Speculations, a main venture organization recorded on the Dubai Monetary Market and Al Mujama is driving the way for mutually possessed property in the UAE to execute sun oriented power in its tasks. Al Mujama’s general manager, Mansoor Serkal, stated, “We are aiming to ensure that all of our communities are operated in the most cost effective and energy efficient manner to provide the best possible value to the owners.”

With our solar developer, Yellow Door Energy, and our energy consultant, Clyde Engineering, we have been hard at work. We have already reduced our community’s energy costs by more than 18% so far. We are proud that 30% of Ritaj’s energy requirements are met by solar power because we are committed to protecting the environment.

“Yellow Door Energy is honored to partner with Dubai Investment Real Estate and Al Mujama on this solar lease, marking a significant step forward in advancing sustainability efforts in the UAE,” stated Jeremy Crane, Group CEO of Yellow Door Energy. We are pleased to add this milestone to our rapidly expanding portfolio of successful projects, which includes 240 megawatts of solar projects awarded to us internationally and in the United Arab Emirates. We are excited to empower businesses to switch to clean energy, lower their electricity costs, and actively contribute to the UAE’s Net Zero by 2050 Initiative as the leading solar developer in the Middle East and Africa.

“Clyde Engineering congratulates the forward-thinking management of Dubai investment Real Estate and Al Mujama on the successful completion of the first JOP rooftop solar plant,” stated Philip Mills, CEO of Clyde Engineering. The Ritaj Community will see a significant reduction in its carbon footprint as a result of this project. The client paid no capital costs and had guaranteed solar production when this project was carried out. Therefore, it benefits the owners of Ritaj as well as the environment. In accordance with the UAE’s goal of becoming net-zero by 2050, the inauguration of the solar power plant is a significant step toward sustainable development and energy efficiency in the real estate sector.

The collaboration combines environmental stewardship and technological innovation to establish a precedent for incorporating renewable energy solutions into residential communities and paves the way for projects that are more environmentally friendly. Masdar and Infinity Power, on the other hand, entered into a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) to provide a long-term supply of renewable energy generated by a significant onshore wind project in Ras Ghareb, Gulf of Suez.

The wind farm is expected to generate 810,000MWh annually and have a capacity of 200MW once it is built. As a result, an annual reduction of 403,672 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions is anticipated. Infinity Power, the largest renewable energy company in Africa, intends to have 10 GW of operational renewable energy by 2030. By the end of this decade, this goal will be able to supply electricity to 12 million homes on the African continent, resulting in a further reduction of approximately 15 to 20 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually.

Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, Chairman of Masdar, and Dr. Moustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of Egypt, attended the official signing ceremony. Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, chief executive officer of Masdar, Eng., signed the agreements. Dr. Mohamed El-Khayat, CEO of NREA, Salah Ezzat, acting chairman of EETC, and Nayer Fouad, CEO of Infinity Power.

“This initiative not only expands our footprint in Egypt but also signifies another big step in bolstering our local impact in the renewables sector, creating valuable jobs,” said Mohamed Ismail Mansour, chairman of Infinity Power. We will continue to work toward increasing our contributions to a cleaner and greener future.

“This project marks another milestone in our journey to unlock Africa’s clean energy potential and further advance the clean energy transition,” Al Ramahi stated. Fouad continued, “Our commitment to positioning Africa as a leader in sustainable energy is strengthened by the addition of the Ras Ghareb wind farm to our growing roster.” As we work toward our goal of developing renewable energy projects throughout all of Africa, this is just one of many actions we will take.
