Nearly half a million people will benefit from the eye care project

A Dubai-based non-benefit magnanimous association, devoted to forestalling visual impairment and visual disability around the world, is attempting to further develop eye care for occupants in distant areas of Nepal.

A tele-ophthalmology program has been launched in Nepal by the Noor Dubai Foundation and Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh (NNJS). Over the course of the next three years, the program will improve access to eye care services for nearly half a million people.

Nepal has an estimated 6.8 million people who are blind, and there are 8.4 ophthalmologists for every million people. Through teleophthalmology, the project is expected to provide improved primary eye care to 433,000 patients in 15 eye centers and enable expert consultant reviews for 82,000 people.

Other than enveloping essential consideration, master conferences, and preparing, the program will likewise zero in on human asset advancement and engaging the neighborhood local area through preparing 15 unified ophthalmic staff and six ophthalmologists in teleophthalmology.

By connecting 15 primary and two tertiary eye centers for enhanced services, the program also aims to enhance the health infrastructure. Over the course of three years, a total of 11 million people are anticipated to gain from this program, which requires an investment of Dh1,070,252.

The program expects to speed up the Assembled Countries Practical Advancement Objectives through utilizing innovation driving effect in worldwide medical problems, including further developing availability to great quality eye care, interests in human resources, framework development, and decreasing disparity.

The Noor Dubai Foundation’s CEO and board member, Dr. Manal Taryam, stated, “We are honored to partner with NNJS to deliver maximum impact in the targeted areas.” We will lead the transformation of eye care service delivery through teleophthalmology, maximizing accessibility to those in need and establishing a lasting legacy for global health and wellbeing.

Prof. Chet Raj Gasp, director, NNJS said the tele-ophthalmology administration, with the backing of Noor Dubai Establishment, will associate residents in the remote and rustic areas of Nepal with expert eye treatment administrations in our eye clinics. Prof. Pant stated, “teleophthalmology offers a more effective way to deliver specialized eye care services directly to patients in their homes in a geographically challenging country like ours.”
