The Department of Health-Abu Dhabi (DoH) introduces the Malaffi Health Portal at Gitex Global 2022 as an avant-garde expansion of the region’s first health information exchange platform, Malaffi. The portal aims to give residents of the emirate easy access to their centralised medical records through a website and mobile application.
Secure online access to this information will enable people to take an active role in their own healthcare since studies have shown that most patients forget up to 80% of the instructions when they leave a professional setting.
By facilitating more meaningful interactions to improve health outcomes, the site will encourage patients to be more involved in managing their health and deepen the doctor-patient relationship. For patients who experience chronic illnesses like diabetes or heart disease and frequently see many doctors, this is crucial.
Patients will have access to the most recent information regarding their doctor appointments, laboratory and radiology findings, medications, allergies, ailments, immunizations, discharge summaries, and more through the health portal. The Apple App Store and Google Play Store will soon both offer the Malaffi Health Portal mobile app for download. Patients can also access it online via the healthportal.malaffi.ae website. After verifying crucial details, including Emirates ID, patients will be able to safely log in using a validated UAE Pass account or with their email address.
According to a recent YouGov survey, 85% of Abu Dhabi residents believe that having online access to their medical records will improve their ability to manage their health, and 78% stated they are likely to use the Health Portal.
Dr. Jamal Mohammed Al Kaabi, Undersecretary of DoH, commented on the launch by stating that Malaffi is a vital component of Abu Dhabi’s cutting-edge digital healthcare ecosystem, which continues to offer our population comprehensive healthcare value and patient-centered services.
The opening of the Malaffi Health Portal is a significant development intended to connect individuals with their medical information and encourage active patient participation.
DoH is still concentrating its efforts on securing the emirate’s status as a top global hub for innovation and healthcare. We are still dedicated to developing a strong and adaptable healthcare ecosystem that may serve as a model for nations in the MENA region and the globe.
“The benefits of HIEs are boundless, and Malaffi as a platform is meant to add value to the entire healthcare ecosystem and alter how healthcare is delivered,” stated Robert Denson, acting CEO of Malaffi. The Health Portal is the logical next step to support DOH’s goal of achieving the highest quality healthcare through digital transformation, while also keeping up with global trends and patient expectations for better and more convenient ways to manage their health as they manage other aspects of their lives.
