Anuj Choudhary, India’s young national cricketer has earned a great reputation in the sport already. Since his childhood, Anuj was sure that he’ll grow up to become a cricketer.
Born in Rajasthan and currently living in Delhi, the 23-year-old Anuj is a right-hand batsman & right-arm off-spin bowler who started playing cricket when he was just 11 years old. When he grew up a little and turned 14, Anuj started doing bowling for IPL teams’ practice sessions. He did it consecutively for 3 years and later also became a part of the Delhi U16 Team’s reserved players. In 2019, Anuj went To SM Stadium, Jaipur to bowl Rajasthan Royals (IPL) and also played DDCA & many more leagues All over India.
Anuj recalls his first introduction to the game and goes back to the time of World Cup 2003. He shares that it had a life-changing impression on him. “As India did so well and reached the Finals, it made me feel something about this game. I used to play with my local friends and family members and my interest and fondness towards Cricket just kept on increasing. I used to play the entire day quite literally.” he says.
And then finally when India won the World Cup 2011, Anuj Choudhary entered the game professionally. He shares that when India won the World Cup on 2nd April 2011, the next day he went to the cricket academy & started playing professionally and since then there has been no looking back.
He spills beans on how Virender Sehwag and the stardom of Sachin Tendulkar inspired him to get into the sport. “From the beginning as for all of us, Virender Sehwag inspired me to get into the sport. The unwavering sounds of “Sachinnnnn…. Sachinnnn” still gives goosebumps.” he says.
Anuj Choudhary went through severe shoulder and knee injuries in 2020 following which he had to be on rest. But now he is gearing up to be a part of the upcoming Ranji Trophy. Anuj says that preparations are going on in full swing and he hopes for the best. “I hope I can make my debut this time!” he says.
