The senior manager of worldwide intelligence for eBay, Stephanie Popp, 34, of Louisville, Kentucky, admitted to counts of witness tampering and cyberstalking conspiracy and received a prison term in a federal court in Boston.
On Tuesday, former eBay Global Intelligence Center manager Stephanie Stockwell, 28, of Redwood City, California, was also sentenced for her part in the fraud but was spared prison time. She was sentenced to two years on probation, the first year of which she spent under home confinement. They are two of seven former employees of eBay who have admitted culpability in the conspiracy against David and Ina Steiner, a Massachusetts couple who enraged eBay officials by writing about the firm in their newsletter, eCommerceBytes.
The alleged scheme’s mastermind and former senior director of safety and security, was the person Stockwell and Popp reported to.
Baugh received a nearly five-year prison term last month. David Harville, another eBay executive who entered a guilty plea in the matter, received a two-year prison term.
Authorities claim Baugh directed eBay staff to send anonymous harassing, threatening, and even violent Twitter tweets to criticise the newsletter’s coverage of eBay. Following that, the couple began receiving unsettling items at their house, including real insects and a casket wreath.

They attempted to place a GPS tracker at the couple’s house, but the garage was locked, so Harville, according to the prosecution, acquired tools with the intention of breaking in.
One of the “most guilty participants” in the conspiracy, according to the prosecution, was Popp. Prosecutors stated in court filings that she was involved in every facet of the harassment campaign and “understood both its full magnitude and the effect that it was having on its “rattled” victims.”

In court documents, Stockwell’s counsel said that Baugh misled, “terrorised, and intimidated” her and the people he was in charge of. However, she has “never wavered in her deep contrition for having engaged in this absurd plan,” according to Stockwell’s attorney, who said that all of her activities were carried out “at the instruction of, or manipulation by, Baugh.”
