In his fourth appearance before the legislature, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will address a joint session of the United States Congress. However, in protest of Israel’s war on Gaza and the humanitarian crisis it sparked, a number of prominent Democrats have already stated that they will not be present.
Even though she would typically preside over such a speech, Kamala Harris, the Democratic presumptive nominee for president, will not be in attendance. A scheduling dispute was cited by her campaign.
In an effort to garner support for Israel’s military campaign in Gaza, Netanyahu will also be greeted by anti-war protesters outside the Capitol.
