Daen Juma Al Tamimi was an Emirati artist who made significant contributions to the development of Emirati and GCC drama and television.
He was 75. Grieving his passing, Latifa bint Mohammed container Rashid Al Maktoum, Executive of Dubai Culture and Expressions Authority, in a post on X, said “the late craftsman will be remembered fondly on screens and theaters.”
She added, “His artistic works will remain a witness to a journey of sincerity and achievement that strengthened and enriched the regional and Emirates cultural scene.” Al Tamimi established himself as a towering figure among the first generation of Emirati artists when he began his artistic career in 1971. Qawm Antar, Al Jeeran, and Dhilal Al Madhi are among his works.
Al Tamimi’s death was also mourned by Humaid Qutami, the former Chairman of the Board and Director-General of Dubai Health Authority. Applauding the veteran craftsman, Qutami said: “He told the truth in his work and genuine in his giving. He was instrumental in the creation of successful and purposeful plays and dramas for local television. He is from the age of craftsmanship pioneers in the Emirates…”
