The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) posted on X at 7.28 p.m. that horizontal visibility is less than 3000 meters over Al Maktoum International Airport.
From 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 18, to 1 p.m. on Sunday, August 18, the department also issued a yellow alert for winds of up to 40 kmph and rough seas with wave heights of 6 feet offshore. The NCM has also issued an orange alert for fresh wind that reduces horizontal visibility and blows dust.
The alert went out at 11.39 a.m. on August 17 and is still in effect until 8 p.m. that same day. The met also issued a yellow alert earlier for wind and dust. The met also issued a red alert earlier in the day informing residents of a decrease in horizontal visibility that would last until 8.30 a.m. today.
Due to the fog’s reduced visibility, Abu Dhabi Police advised motorists to exercise caution in a post on X. Meanwhile, earlier today, some parts of the United Arab Emirates also experienced moderate to heavy rain.
