The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has introduced a groundbreaking initiative aimed at fostering happiness and improving the lives of its blue-collar workers.

In a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) and du, a telecommunications subsidiary of the Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (EITC), a revolutionary “Happiness SIM” card has been launched. This initiative is set to bring affordable connectivity and exclusive benefits to blue-collar workers, ensuring they remain connected to their families and access essential services.

The Happiness SIM card is easily accessible, and obtaining it is a straightforward process. Workers can acquire it by visiting designated business service centers and guidance centers or by using MoHRE’s user-friendly online services for work contract issuance or renewal. This accessibility ensures that the benefits of this initiative are within reach for a wide range of blue-collar workers across the UAE.

One of the most significant advantages of the Happiness SIM card is the provision of six months of free data. This is a game-changer, as it empowers workers to access the internet and stay in touch with their loved ones without the burden of expensive data costs. Additionally, the card offers low rates for international calls, further facilitating communication with family and friends abroad.

Moreover, SIM card holders will receive crucial notifications issued by MoHRE, ensuring they stay informed about relevant updates and developments that may impact their work and lives. This aspect of the initiative demonstrates the government’s commitment to providing comprehensive support and assistance to blue-collar workers.

Ayesha Belharfia, MoHRE’s Acting Undersecretary for Emiratisation Affairs and Assistant Undersecretary for Labour Affairs, expressed enthusiasm about this partnership and its potential to improve the well-being of blue-collar workers. She highlighted the initiative’s role in providing affordable and reliable connectivity, which, in turn, enables workers to maintain essential connections and access vital services.

Fahad Al Hassawi, CEO of du, emphasized the importance of keeping workers, especially blue-collar workers, connected with their families and friends. He articulated the company’s mission to cater to the telecom needs of these workers by offering tailored solutions that combine connectivity with affordability. Furthermore, he underscored the significance of making their lives more convenient and connected while helping them save money for their families in their home countries.

In essence, the Happiness SIM card represents a significant stride toward enhancing the quality of life for blue-collar workers in the UAE. It demonstrates the government’s commitment to their well-being, providing them with the tools to stay connected and access critical resources. Through this collaboration between MoHRE and du, the UAE is setting a positive example of how technology and telecommunications can be harnessed to promote happiness and inclusivity in society. This initiative is not only about connectivity; it’s about fostering a sense of belonging, care, and support for the hardworking individuals who contribute significantly to the nation’s growth and development.
