Anneliese, a visitor from Dubai, found the release of the Barbie movie to be an ideal “girls’ day out” with her cousin Chloe, despite having seen the movie before. While waiting for refreshments at the Mall of the Emirates theater, Anneliese shared with Khaleej Times, “I caught the film in Sri Lanka last week during my visit there. However, upon arriving here to be with Chloe and discovering that it was premiering, I knew I had to enjoy it again with her.”

The university student expressed a sense of the movie fostering a sense of community among women. “During my mall visits in Sri Lanka, I observed both men and women dressed in pink,” she recounted. “There were nods and smiles exchanged among people. Similar reports came from my friends in Ireland. I’ve noticed a similar Barbie camaraderie here as well. It’s as if the movie has broken barriers and united people.”

Chloe, a school student, eagerly anticipated watching the movie with her cousin. “Anneliese assures me that I’ll adore it,” she remarked. “So, I’m brimming with excitement. Plus, I’m confident that Margot Robbie will shatter stereotypes and deliver a remarkable performance. I’m a fan of hers, and I believe the movie will be fantastic.”

Fully Engaged in English Val, a Brazilian individual, also chose to watch the movie for a second time. “I saw the movie while vacationing in Brazil,” she recalled. “However, it was dubbed in Spanish, and I felt the translation didn’t capture its essence. Therefore, when it premiered in Dubai, I was determined to see it again.”

Dressed in a glittering miniskirt, Val embodied the Barbie aesthetic. She attended the screening with her parents, Maria and Murilo. “I had them put on all their pink clothes so that we could immerse ourselves in the spirit of it.”

Val eagerly anticipated the English version of the film. “I was captivated by the movie’s themes, and I want to experience them in their original English form,” she explained. “I’m also looking forward to sharing this with my parents. I’m convinced they’ll adore it.”

Eternal Companions For student Wendy, the opportunity to watch the movie with her friends motivated her to return to the theater on opening day. “I saw the movie during my trip to the Philippines last month,” she recounted. “However, when I learned it was releasing here, I was excited to view it alongside my friends. So, we all made plans to see it together.”

Her friend Nicha disclosed that she went shopping specifically for the occasion. “I didn’t own much pink attire, so I went shopping to ensure I looked the part,” she quipped.
