In a memo to its members, the union at BHP’s (BHP.AX) giant Escondida copper mine in Chile said on Sunday that if the company does not “rectify its position” regarding contract talks as soon as possible, it could relaunch a strike.
The powerful union at the mine went on strike on Tuesday over disagreements regarding payments. On Friday, they reached a preliminary agreement to put an end to the strike at the world’s largest copper mine, which had threatened to affect the supply of red metal around the world.
