HALIFAX – Schools in New Brunswick are closed due to the Coronavirus, schools in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island will close for 2 weeks following March break as the federal government and health authorities work to avoid the spread of COVID-19.
Nova Scotia
The province verified Sunday that public schools will be closed for 2 weeks – the weeks of March 23rd and March 30th – following the break and will then be reassessed.
The province revealed previously this month that all school-organized trips to worldwide locations would be canceled up until April 30th.
The statement about the school closures came as the province validated 3 presumptive cases of the unique coronavirus on Sunday.
New Brunswick
The New Brunswick federal government states “all schools in the province will be closed for 2 weeks, beginning Monday”. The closures will be reassessed on a continuous basis.
The province had mentioned that anybody who took a trip outside Canada must stay away from schools.
Recently, CTV News reported that more than 1,300 trainees and team members were keeping away from New Brunswick schools.
Since Monday early morning, there were 5 presumptive cases and one verified case of COVID-19 in NB.
Prince Edward Island
The Prince Edward Island federal government states all public schools will also stay closed for at least 2 weeks – March 23rd and March 30th – following March break, which is today. The closures will be reassessed at a later date.
Prince Edward Island has also reported one case of COVID-19 – a Queens County female in her 50s who just recently returned from taking a trip on a cruise liner.
