Lalitpur: A female migrant traveled 500 km from Madhya Pradesh and gave birth to a baby girl under a tree by the roadside in Lalitpur district of Uttar Pradesh. The woman, along with a dozen others, was walking from Dhar in Madhya Pradesh for several days and after covering a distance of 520 km, she started having childbirth in Balabhet village on Monday. She was eight and a half months pregnant when she set out on the journey. Her husband Tantu said that his wife Rajbetti was cooking food during a short break taken during the yatra, when she started having labor and later gave birth to a baby girl under the tree. Her husband and some other women of the group assisted her.
He said that this group of migrants was walking from Pritampur area of Dhar district towards their village in Lalitpur. The factory they were working in was shut down due to a nationwide lockdown caused by an outbreak of coronovirus. When the head of Ballabh village came to know about the woman, he called a medical team from the nearby Primary Health Center (PHC). The team provided immediate medical help to the mother and newborn and then took them to the hospital from where they were later discharged. Lalitpur Chief Medical Officer, Pratap Singh said, "The woman had given birth to a healthy baby girl before our medical team arrived. Later, both the mother and the newborn were given medical assistance on the spot and the Primary Health Center Transferred to. Both are safe and have been sent to their destination in an ambulance. "
