The Income Tax Department has cautioned people about a ‘fake’ e-mail scam. The Income Tax Department has asked the income taxpayers not to click on any e-mail claiming the refund. The department alerted the taxpayers on social media that they should not click on any such link in which a refund has been claimed. The Income Tax Department wrote in a tweet- ‘Messages claiming refunds have not sent by the Tax Department. Please do not click on any such link’.
Sending this email to people
A fake e-mail is sending to those filing income tax returns. In which it is written, ‘Due to the coronavirus epidemic, the central government has already decided to give returns to all taxpayers. So, they do not have to face trouble during the crisis. Click this link to claim your refund. ‘Let us tell you that the Income Tax Department never e-mails customers and asks for the information of PIN number, password or credit card or bank details. The department has appealed to the people not to reply to any such mail.
Refund process accelerated
The Finance Ministry had said in a statement on 8 April that it would expedite the process of tax refund for relief to the people and companies affected by the coronavirus. According to the ministry, it will expedite the pending refund of Rs 5 lakh. Which will benefit about 14 lakh taxpayers.
