Twitter users are cancelling Genghis Khan. Because of a user post of a thread outlining, that what a bag person he was. And social media has totally gone into meltdown!
However, cancel culture has become a huge issue in 2020. Celebrities just make one mistake on media and instantly a mass of people wanting to shame, publicly humiliate them on social media.
The latest person to be suffering from this issue is someone you’d never expect. He is a historic Mongolian leader Genghis Khan. Yes you heard that correct, the internet are calling out the leader – but what is the reason?
WHO ACTUALLY WAS GENGHIS KHAN?
He was borm in roughly 1155. Genghis Khan was a founder and was also a first Great Kahn of the Mongol Empire. After, his death the empire became the largest empire in history.
He was born as Temüjin Borjigin, but was proclaimed Genghis Khan. Thus happaner after he found the Empire, meaning Universal ruler. He waa officially famous as the Genghis Emperor. He came into power after uniting many of the nomadic tribes of the North-East part of Asia.
Though, he died in 1227 after defeating the Western Xia. He requested, his body to be buried in an unmarked grave in a place in Mongolia.
WHY HE IS TRENDING ON TWITTER?
On Friday (August 14th) the Mongolian leader, Genghis Khan who died almost 800 years ago suddenly started going viral on Twitter.
It all started when a Twitter user called @Priya_27_ posted a thread tweeting about the sheer devastation, which was caused by Genghis Khan. She started calling out people who glorify him.
She said: “Genghis Khan did to central Asia what Islamic invaders did to India, maybe worse. He single-handedly killed 11% of world population at the time. Yet some want to glorify him as a hero conquerer. That’s your personal choice but objectively, Genghis Khan was a barbaria.”
The thread further continued with seven more tweets outlining about why Genghis Khan was a bad person.

However, the thread gained 3.7k retweets and almost 6.8k likes. It sparked to a worldwide conversation about late Genghis Khan on Twitter.
Just as everyone thought 2020 couldn’t get more worse. Genghis Khan started getting ‘cancelled’ by the internet. Though, anyone could be a victim of the cancel culture.
One of theTwitter user said: “I left Twitter for a few hours and I come back to the news Genghis Khan is Cancelled.”
Further, the jokes started coming from thousands. One person posted: “Checked out why Genghis Khan is trending, apparently he just got cancelled. I can’t find him on socials so it must have worked.”
And finally: “I see that Genghis Khan has been cancelled. sad bc i was a really big fan. i’ll be spending my night burning all my 12th century mongolian artifacts. don’t call or text.”
