Teenage Bounty Hunters is one of the famous teenage series. The show captured the demographic-conquering magic that comes with premise. The series story is about twin sisters Sterling (Maddie Phillips) and Blair (Anjelica Bette Fellini). They, by mistake enter the world of bounty hunting followed by a freak road accident. Veteran bounty hunter Bowser (Kadeem Hardison) takes them under his wing. As, he has access to the world of privilege. They even have the ability to hustle and begin moonlighting under the guise of frozen yogurt shop workers.
The religious aspect of the show, is too central to the characters’ motivations. Although, most of the subplots to ignore, will likely be a dealbreaker for many. As, because of its facetious tone of faith-based talk in the first place. But, in first couple of episodes, the girls’ lives at a Catholic school as something to poke fun at. But, in later episodes take a nuanced approach.
The show begins with Sterling, the more conservative of the twins. Then, losing her virginity in her boyfriend’s car. Later, shown digging into the emotional ramifications, because of the act. It’s kind of refreshing to see a show focused at teenagers deal with some of these issues.
Mostly, the story of the show is focused on the girls’ bounty hunting inevitably. Where, she end up being more entertaining as compared ti the teenage scandals, and boys issues at school. A mentor works really well, and never comes off creepy despite the age gap. The dynamic is Veronica/Keith Mars-esque, without the familial connection. It gives twins a much-needed man to bounce off.
The best way to describe Teenage Bounty Hunters is frantic. It is a kind of serious crime drama. There are many things which audience could find annoying. Like the twins’ ability to sidebar without anyone, hearing comes to mind. Many things are utterly charming, and the perfect momentum that’s built up each episodem. It nicely distracts from the moral questions we might have about bounty hunting.
However, till now there aren’t any red flags in the season. I hope you also find all of the episodes as fun and interesting. There’s definitely interesting material for a new season.
While it never goes above the ‘decent’ level of amusement. The show is perfect for this limbo. Now just scroll through Netflix’ and watch this series and share your experience. Although, due to the corona viruse pandemic, the productions has been stopped of many shows. TV barrel is also running low, but Teenage Bounty Hunters suggests that we’re near to the bottom quite yet.
