A Syrian rebel commanding officer pointed out on Thursday that unusual armed forces exercises by United States Military in southern Syria sent out a powerful message to Russia & Iran.
That the “Americans with the revolutionists plan to stick around & deal with any type of dangers to their presence”, sources say.
Colonel Muhanad al-Talaa, commanding officer from the Pentagon-backed Maghawir al-Thawra, informed News people of the 8 days of exercises which finished recently within Tanf, which were the very first such activities using live-fire, air and even ground, consisting of hundreds of United States soldiers & rebel warriors.
“These exercises have a big importance and have beefed up the defences of the area and raised the combat capabilities and morale and that of civilians in the area,” Talaa informed News agency by means of telephone from Tanf, close to Syria’s borderlines with Jordan plus Iraq.
A United States army spokesperson pointed out the activities were a display of force and that the Government had informed Moscow with “deconfliction” networks to avoid “miscommunication or escalate tension”.
“The exercise was carried out to strengthen our capabilities and also ensure we are ready in order to react to any type of threat to our troops throughout our area of operations,” Colonel Sean Ryan told Press reporters in an email answer to inquiries.
Russia along with the Syrian authorities have continuously called upon Washington to pull out its own soldiers from the Tanf base, where it has proclaimed a 55 km-radius “deconfliction sector” off-limits to others.
Rebels state hundreds of United States Marines showed up this particular month in Tanf to take part in specific procedures soldiers presently located in the garrison and take part in the exercises, amidst increased US-Russian tensions within Syria and a naval build-up throughout the Mediterranean.
