Israel has agreed to limited “humanitarian pauses,” according to the World Health Organization, in order to permit crucial polio vaccinations in Gaza. The Gaza Health Ministry reports that Israeli attacks have killed 70 Palestinians and injured 77 in the last 24 hours, while our team on the ground reports 30 deaths since this morning.
According to EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell, Israel’s major military incursion into the occupied West Bank must not be a repeat of the “full-scale destruction” seen in the Palestinian enclave and “the premises of a war extension from Gaza.”
Somewhere around 18 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli assaults since Wednesday morning. After one of its “clearly marked UN humanitarian vehicles” was hit at least 10 times by Israeli gunfire at a military checkpoint, the UN’s World Food Programme (WFP) has suspended staff movement throughout Gaza.
In Israel’s war on Gaza, at least 40,602 people have died and 93,855 have been wounded. On October 7, the Hamas-led attacks in Israel killed an estimated 1,139 people.
