The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has always been a beacon of business innovation and economic dynamism, attracting global recognition. As digital transformation accelerates, the demand for fintech solutions escalates, posing both opportunities and challenges for UAE-based digital innovators. The imperative to rapidly scale and adapt has never been more critical. Here, fintech outsourcing to the Philippines steps in, leveling the competitive field and enabling companies to make their mark on the global stage.

Fintech Evolution in the UAE

Ralf Ellspermann, CEO of PITON-Global and one of the Philippines’ leading experts on customer experience solutions, reflects on the UAE’s fintech landscape, “The fintech sector in the UAE has witnessed exponential growth in recent years, fueled by a confluence of factors like increased smartphone penetration, a tech-savvy populace, and the government’s dedication to establishing the nation as a global fintech hub. The evolution encompasses digital banking, remittance platforms, blockchain technology, and artificial intelligence, evolving at an impressive velocity.”

“However, as fintech firms aspire to expand their footprint and penetrate global markets, they confront a ubiquitous challenge: the scarcity of skilled professionals adept at developing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting their solutions. In a fiercely competitive talent market, outsourcing has emerged as an indispensable solution,” he elaborates.

The Philippines: The Fintech Outsourcing Juggernaut

With its youthful, educated, and English-speaking workforce offering cost-effective solutions across a range of industries, the Philippines has earned a reputation as an outsourcing powerhouse. It’s no wonder that the nation’s burgeoning outsourcing industry is proving pivotal in supporting global digital innovators, including those based in the UAE.

Several factors contribute to the Philippines’ appeal as an outsourcing destination.

First, the country touts a literacy rate exceeding 98%, indicative of a highly skilled and educated workforce. The country’s higher education institutions consistently produce graduates adept in fields such as information technology, finance, and business administration, rendering them ideal candidates for fintech outsourcing.

Second, outsourcing to the Philippines delivers significant cost savings, often with wages approximately 60% lower than those in Middle Eastern countries. This enables UAE-based fintech providers to redirect more resources towards other operational aspects, thereby enhancing their competitive position.

Next, the Philippines’ historical ties to the United States have cultivated a workforce that is culturally attuned to Western businesses. This cultural compatibility, coupled with shared values and strong work ethics, fosters seamless collaborations between UAE-based fintech entities and their Philippine counterparts.

Lastly, the Philippine government is actively fostering the growth of the fintech outsourcing industry through policies designed to entice foreign investment and bolster sectoral growth.

Levelling the Global Competitive Landscape

By harnessing the strength of the Philippines’ BPO industry, companies are better poised to compete on a global scale. Outsourcing provides them access to a pool of skilled professionals, enables them to scale operations, and maintain high-quality standards, all while achieving cost efficiencies. This empowers them to concentrate on their core competencies, such as cultivating innovative solutions and expanding their market influence.

“The symbiotic relationship between the UAE’s fintech sector and the Philippines’ business process outsourcing industry exemplifies the power of global collaboration. By capitalizing on the opportunities outsourcing provides, the UAE is well on track to solidifying its position as a formidable player in the global fintech ecosystem,” concludes Ellspermann.
