Jonathan Rivera wakes up every morning at 4:30 AM. He drinks a big glass of water with lemon and meditates for 30 minutes. A long day lies ahead of him as the cofounder and star marketer of Double X Media, a premiere digital marketing agency that’s quickly gaining attention among big names in the industry. After heading to the gym for an hour, Rivera eats breakfast and listens to a podcast to satiate his constant thirst for knowledge. As his family begins to wake up in the morning, he takes ten minutes to organize and writes out his to do list for the day. Before heading to work, Rivera spends quality morning time with his family. “Never forget what your priorities should be,” he says.
Rivera gets to work at 9AM. He scans his emails for anything that catches his eye. He proceeds to check his clients profiles, meticulously going through every detail from ads to security to sales analytics to see if anything’s changed overnight. Once he’s satisfied with the state of every profile and has taken care of all high priority emails, Rivera begins on his to do list from the morning. At lunch, Jonathan scours Youtube for marketing tactics across every industry you can think of. “I always like to be ahead and draw influences from unusual places,” Rivera says.
After lunch, Rivera has phone calls with his team and clients to catch up on weekly goals and make sure a multitude of active projects are on track. He then makes sure the efforts of all the consultants and JV partners he overlooks are aligned and everyone’s mindset is geared towards the same mission. Before his day is over, Rivera has 45 minutes of mad scientist time. This is where Rivera tests a new marketing strategy that he learned or came up with himself. “It’s crucial to stay vigilant and sharpen your tools,” says Rivera. “You never know when you might find a new automation tool and 10x your workflow.”
Rivera ends his day at 6 PM to make sure he can spend at least 2 hours with his family every night. At 8 PM, Rivera stops using all electronics. Rivera is asleep by 9 PM to get the optimal seven and half hours of sleep before his next early morning. “Your mind is your most powerful tool,” reminds Rivera. “Make sure to treat it properly to see what’s it really capable of.”
