Vaca Muerta affected by 48-hour strike by Argentine oil union

Argentine Oil Union

The largest oil union in Argentina announced on Saturday that it will go on strike for 48 hours beginning on Tuesday to demand higher salaries. This action will have an impact on production at the enormous Vaca Muerta shale formation.

The Vaca Muerta hydrocarbon development is the world’s second-biggest shale gas reserve and the fourth biggest for shale oil, and assumes a focal part in Argentina’s arrangement to switch a huge shortage in its energy exchange balance and become a net energy exporter.

According to the Union of Private Oil and Gas Workers in Rio Negro, Neuquen, and La Pampa—the provinces in which Vaca Muerta is situated—the strike was called after unsuccessful negotiations with businesses. A press release states that the demonstration will begin on Tuesday at 1100 GMT.

Marcelo Rucci, the union’s general secretary, stated, “We tried to sit down, understand, talk, and reach an agreement, but they brought us the same proposals as a year and a half ago, the same thing we talked about four months ago.” “We have a tendency to talk and talk about things. We don’t have time for them to disrespect us right now.
