Anubhav Sinha reflects upon his friendship with other filmmakers in the industry. He reveals that he has known contemporary directors like Sudhir Mishra, Anurag Kashyap, Hansal Mehta and Vishal Bhardwaj for a long time but their friendship has got stronger in last few years when all of them started hanging out together.
What do these filmmakers do and talk about?
Talking about his friends, Sinha shares that all of them meet frequently and discuss each other’s film quite often. “Vishal cooks, Hansal cooks, Subhash (Kapoor) cooks, and I cook. Kashyap also tries to cook, but he makes better films. Hansal and I make better food. We are friends, we read each other’s scripts, watch the first cut, share opinions and gossip,” he says.
Anubhav also highlights that they do not feel jealous of each other’s work or success instead, they give each other constructive and honest feedback. “I think it is because all of us are driven by our films and not the rewards of it. We all have had our difficult and separate journeys, in which we succeeded and failed. So now both don’t matter much to us. What matters is the kind of cinema we can make and how we can help each other,” he adds.
Anubhav expresses that he has huge respect for them and their exceptional work and would want to work with them on a masterpiece. He also mentions that they have helped him with many of his work and have given him valuable feedbacks. “We respect each other tremendously. It is a privilege that I know these guys, they are such fantastic talent. Maybe we should get a photo together and maybe work together,” he shared with an interviewer.
