His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has given his approval for the restructuring of the Board of Trustees of Zayed University. The board will be led by Shamma Al Mazrui, the Minister of Community Development, and will serve a renewable term of five years.
The newly restructured Board of Trustees will consist of distinguished individuals from various sectors. Among them are Rashid Saeed Al Ameri, the Under-Secretary for the Government Coordination Sector at the Ministry of Presidential Court, Rima Al Mokarrab, the Executive Director of Strategic Affairs at the Executive Affairs Authority in Abu Dhabi, Rabi’ Aboushaqra, the Executive Director of the Strategic Affairs Office at the Presidential Court, Mira Omar Al Futtaim, the Chairperson of the Al Futtaim Emiratisation Council, Badr Abdulhamid Ja’far, a social entrepreneur, and Dr Mona Jumaa Al Bahr, an advisor at the Department of Community Development in Abu Dhabi.
The board will also include Prof. John Willan, Dr Mok Christian, and Dina Al Sayed Al Hashemi, who hold senior positions in their respective fields. Additionally, a youth representative nominated by the General Secretariat of the UAE Cabinet will also be part of the board.
The primary responsibility of the Board of Trustees is to approve the university’s strategic direction in alignment with the national strategy for higher education. They will oversee the implementation of strategic and operational plans and propose projects and initiatives aimed at improving the quality and efficiency of educational outcomes.
