The Committee of Administrators (COA), which administers Indian cricket, said on Thursday that newly appointed Lokpal Justice (retd) DK Jain will also play the role of temporary Ethics Officer of BCCI. The COA, in its 10th status report filed on 28 October 2018, had requested the Supreme Court to appoint an ethics officer besides Lokpal to look into cases of conflict of interest.
The COA said, “Justice (retd) DK Jain, Lokpal of BCCI, will also serve as a temporary ethics officer in addition to his services as Lokpal officer. He will remain in this position till a new Ethics Officer is appointed. ‘
On March 12, the three-member COA requested Justice Jain to temporarily take over as the Ethics Officer until a permanent (Ethics Officer) appointment. Justice Jain also agreed to work as a temporary ethics officer and would look into all matters of conflict of interest.
The COA said in its status report, ‘Transparency and measures to avoid conflict of interest are important aspects of the reform process, hence the need to appoint an Ethics Officer at the earliest.’ Looking into the matter Both these cricketers were also banned by the BCCI for making controversial comments during the television program, but later both were allowed to play.
