On November 20, the Dubai Run, hosted by Mai Dubai, the largest free fun run in the world and one of the main events of the Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC), will take over Sheikh Zayed Road. All ages and levels of fitness are welcome to sign up and challenge themselves to the full distance.
Tens of thousands of people will participate in the city’s enormous running track for the fourth Dubai Run, choosing between the 10km route for more experienced runners or the 5km route for families and runners of all abilities. On Sheikh Zayed Road, both paths begin close to the Museum of the Future.
The easy, 5 kilometre course is perfect for families with kids and social runners because it runs by the Dubai Mall, Dubai Opera, and Burj Khalifa. The 10-kilometer course follows Sheikh Zayed Road to the Dubai Canal before turning around and heading back toward the Trade Center until coming to an end on Al Mustaqbal Street close to the DIFC. It is better suited for more experienced runners because it is a longer course.
Dubai Run, a signature event of the Dubai Fitness Challenge, is in line with His
Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s directions
to make Dubai one of the world’s most active cities as well as his broader goal
of making Dubai the best city in the world to live, work, and visit.
The largest public fitness competition in the world
The Dubai Run had a record-breaking 146,000 runners, joggers, wheelers, and walkers engage in it last year, making it the world’s largest community fitness event. Even more people are anticipated to participate this year, and there will be plenty of opportunities for everyone to prepare and train, including, among others, a family-friendly Halloween run at Dubai Festival City on October 29, the Mai Dubai City Half Marathon on October 30, the Expo City Dubai Run on November 12, and the Dubai Women’s Run on November 13.
Dubai Run is the ideal illustration of all the Dubai Fitness Challenge represents: one community coming together for a fitter future for everybody, according to Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment. Regardless of age or running prowess, everyone should take advantage of this once-a-year opportunity to run on Sheikh Zayed Road and around Dubai’s prominent monuments as a way to promote Dubai as one of the world’s most active cities. On November 20, I’m looking forward to greeting locals and guests at the starting line.”
The Dubai Sports Council’s Secretary General, Saeed Hareb, stated: “The number of participants in Dubai Run has increased dramatically over the past few years, reaching 146,000 last year.
This is a genuinely exceptional accomplishment that highlights Dubai’s unwavering attitude and capacity for success. The Dubai Run, a signature event that attracts fitness enthusiasts of all ages and abilities as well as professional and amateur runners, is now a part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge’s annual schedule of events.
On November 20, I urge everyone to come out and join us as we bring Dubai one step closer to being recognised as one of the world’s most active cities.
This year, the Dubai Fitness Challenge will feature its biggest lineup yet, including a thrilling month of enjoyable and welcoming fitness activities spread across two fitness villages: DP World Kite Beach Fitness Village and RTA Last Exit Al Khawaneej Fitness Village, as well as 20 local fitness hubs and a number of sporting events.
