The 9th Guru Teg Bahadur of Sikhism is known after a revolutionary era man. Guru Teg Bahadur Saheb’s name is unique among those who have sacrificed their lives to protect religion and human values, ideals and principles in world history. Today is the birth anniversary of Guru Teg Bahadur Jayanti Singh. Guru Teg Bahadur was born on Vaisakh Krishna Panchami in Amritsar, Punjab. His childhood name was Tyagmal.
Saint form and deep thought in childhood
It is said that Guru Tej Bahadur was a saintly and deeply thoughtful and liberal mind since childhood. He was a man of spiritual interest since childhood. Guru Teg Bahadur showed such valor in the battle of Kartarpur in 1634 that his father named him Teg Bahadur from Tyagmal. At that time Teg Bahadur was just 13 years old. After 21 years of continuous practice, in 1665 AD, the Guru sat on the throne.

Protecting the religious rights of Kashmiri Pandits
It is about the year 1675 that a group of Kashmiri Pandits came to the court of Guru Teg Bahadur and they told that Aurangzeb is forcibly forcing people to convert their religion. Kashmiri Pandits told Teg Bahadur that those who do not listen to Aurangzeb’s words are being tortured. A team of Kashmiri Pandits prayed to Guru Teg Bahadur for help. Guruji said, ‘For this a great man will have to give self-sacrifice. 09-year-old boy Guru Gobind Singh ji said, who can be greater than you for this sacrifice.
Aurangzeb placed a condition in front of Teg Bahadur
After meeting a group of Kashmiri Pandits, Guru Teg Bahadur reached Delhi to meet Aurangzeb. Aurangzeb placed three conditions in front of Teg Bahadur, ‘confess Islam, show peace or martyrdom. Responding to Aurangzeb, Guru Ji replied, ‘I am against conversion, and showing miracles is a violation of God’s will.’ After this, three Sikhs Bhai Mati Das, Bhai Sati Das and Bhai Dayala who went to Delhi with Guru Ji were martyred by torture.
Aurangzeb also committed many atrocities on Guru Ji. Finally, on 24 November 1675 AD after eight days of torture, Guruji was martyred by cutting the head in Delhi’s Chandni Chowk. Gurudwara Sheesh Ganj was built in this place in memory of Guru Teg Bahadur.
