WASHINGTON – US President Trump lashed out on Democrats majority in the House of Representatives and other members for rejecting his proposal to finance the Mexican wall.

“Nancy Pelosi and some Democrats have rejected my offer even before I say, Do not see crime and drugs, just come 2020 [date of the next presidential election], they will not win,” he wrote in his Twitter account. , Donald Trump, referring to the majority leader of the Democratic Party, in the House of Representatives.

“They should do the right thing for the country and allow people to return to work,” he added.

In another similar message, Trump went back to attacking Nancy Pelosi, considering that he “behaved so irrationally and went so far to the left that he now officially became a radical Democrat.”

In an attempt to unlock the shutdown that has lasted for about a month, Donald Trump proposed on Saturday to extend protection to young illegal immigrants who entered the country as children in exchange for 5.7 billion dollars to build the wall, but Democrats rejected the proposal.

Speaking at the White House in Washington, President Donald Trump said he was offering a “common-sense commitment that both sides should embrace.”

Prior to Trump’s statements, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had said that the proposal to end the 29-day partial shutdown of the government was “a compilation of several previously rejected initiatives, each of which was unacceptable.”

The California Democrat considered that Trump’s offer was not “a bona fide effort” to help immigrants and could not pass the House.

Trump said he would extend protection for youths brought into the country illegally as children, as well as those with temporary protection status who have fled countries affected by natural disasters or violence.

Democrats have criticized the proposal, arguing that this is not a permanent solution for immigrants and that it includes money for the wall along the US-Mexico border, which the party strongly opposes.

Democrats also want Trump to reopen the government before negotiations can begin.

Speaking at the White House, Trump said the plan contemplates “three years of legislative relief” for the 700,000 dreamers who may have access to work visas, Social Security number, protecting them from deportation.

The plan integrates “three years of certainty” for 300,000 immigrants whose protection status faces rescission, “so that Congress can work on a broader immigration deal.”

On the wall, Donald Trump said that funding of $ 5.7 billion must be earmarked “for the strategic development of physical barriers, or the wall,” adding that “it is not a concrete structure of 2,000 miles 3,220 kilometers) from sea to sea, the steel barriers are a high priority “.

The US president stressed that most of the Mexican border already has natural barriers such as “mountains and water” and noted that there are many kilometers of ditches built, such as the 250 miles (about 400 kilometers) that are currently erected.
