A man tested positive for the virus at the Israeli Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo on February 25th, after which he was again tested at the Adolfo Lutz Institute, which, according to local sources, was confirmed again.
This infected patient was in Italy from the 9th to 21st of February; the authorities asked Anvisa airline for a list of travelers on the flight or flights the man was using.

In late 2019, China reported that the outbreak was caused by a new strain of the coronavirus that originated from Wuhan, the provincial capital of Hubei.
