The manufacturer of the T-14 Armata issued a report mentioning the completion of the modernization work on the cannon installed in the most advanced Russia’s flagship tank.
The report also details that the manufacture of the guns that will be used to carry out the tests of the new types of projectiles has already begun. Thus, the name of one of the projects, Sokol-V (hawk, in Russian), is mentioned, but it is not yet clear whether it is the 125 mm gun itself or a projectile.
To this day, the 2A82-1M cannon can fire not only with projectiles but also guided anti-tank missiles. Thanks to technological advances, its armor penetration capacity are substantially greater than that of other Russian tanks.

For example, the guns of the T-90M and T-72B3M are capable of penetrating up to 700 mm of armor, while the Armada can up to 1,200 mm.
Therefore, the experts speculate that with the modernized cannon and with new projectiles these figures could increase.
Previously, in the course of the military-technical forum Army 2019, held at the end of June outside Moscow, the weight of the T-14 Armata that amounts to 55 tons was revealed.
In 2018 the Russian Ministry of Defense signed a contract for the supply of 132 armored vehicles on the Armata base, which includes the T-14 tanks and the T-15 infantry combat vehicles. State testing of the Armata T-14 will begin this year.
