Doctors comment on the fad. On platforms like Tiktok and others, influencers have been soaking rice overnight in water and drinking it with lime juice about an hour before meals.

Hundreds of people have tried to lose weight by drinking rice-soaked water-based juice as part of a social media diet trend. Influencers on Tiktok and other platforms have been soaking rice in water overnight and drinking it with lime juice an hour or so before meals, claiming it works just as well as Ozempic, a popular diabetes and obesity medication. Be that as it may, specialists say the pattern depends on a “misguided judgment” and isn’t a marvel drink.

“While rice water might contain safe starches, which can slow assimilation and possibly increment sensations of completion, it doesn’t offer the far reaching metabolic impacts given by prescriptions like Ozempic,” said Dr Effortlessness Fabrizia Graziani, Expert Family Medication at Aster Imperial Center.” The medication suppresses appetite and reduces food intake by activating receptors in the brain. Additionally, it slows down gastric emptying, resulting in a longer feeling of fullness and improved glucose regulation.

Also, Ozempic further develops insulin discharge and gives cardiovascular advantages, instruments that rice water, with its safe starches, can’t duplicate,” she added. Others, like nutritionist and expert in integrative medicine Dr. Laura Holland, agreed.

“While the beverage may briefly stifle hunger, it doesn’t seem to mirror the asserted metabolic impacts of medications like Ozempic,” she said. “I wouldn’t recommend rice-zempic as a means of balancing weight over the long term,” the author says. “So although drinking rice water may support some individuals’ digestive health depending on their unique constitution.” Risks They claim that the consumption of the beverage known as rice-zempic carries some potential dangers.

“Rice-Zempic isn’t hazardous, yet assuming there is heartburn, the lime juice may likewise intensify it,” said Dr Dana Hamwi, Clinical Dietitian for Dr Dana Diet Center and Dubai London Medical clinic. “There is also the possibility that people who drink a lot of rice water could be ingesting dangerous levels of arsenic,” She added that the beverage has “zero logical base” and that regardless of whether there was an effective deficiency of weight, it would be transitory and stop when its defenders quit drinking the juice.

According to Dr. Grace, rice-zempic and other popular diets had a number of drawbacks. She stated, “Social media platforms like TikTok frequently give rise to diet trends that promise quick and easy weight loss, which can be appealing but are rarely supported by scientific evidence.”

Rice-zempic is one of these trends that tends to oversimplify complex metabolic processes and provide misleading shortcuts that can harm long-term health. As a medical professional, I recommend exercising caution when considering any diet that has been widely promoted on social media.

Such eating regimens are frequently not planned considering individual wellbeing needs and can bring about insufficient supplement consumption, imbalanced weight control plans, and possible damage.” Alternatives According to Dr. Laura, she has investigated whether the trend has any roots in alternative therapies like Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). She stated, “In Traditional Chinese Medicine, rice water is sometimes used for digestive health, especially to soothe the stomach and aid digestion.”

“In Ayurveda, rice water is known as ‘kanji’ and is in many cases utilized as a light, effectively edible food, especially for individuals recuperating from sickness or those with powerless processing.” She expressed that while these customary purposes of rice water depend on its apparent advantages for absorption and generally speaking wellbeing, they are “not expected for weight reduction” and don’t make claims like the rice-zempic pattern. Dr. Dana went on to say that these fad diets might lead to eating disorders. “My best advice is to adopt healthy eating habits and lead a healthy lifestyle by eating a low-calorie, high-nutrient diet high in protein and low in carbohydrates, and combine that with exercise.”

Dr Beauty said taking in general plant-based diet was an attempted and tried method for getting in shape. “An entire plant-put together eating routine concentrations with respect to devouring prevalently plant-based food varieties like organic products, vegetables, vegetables, entire grains, nuts, and seeds,” she said. Although it places an emphasis on these foods made of plants, it does not necessarily exclude all animal products. This diet ensures that you get essential nutrients while also assisting in the creation of the caloric deficit required for weight loss by putting nutrient-dense plant foods first and minimizing animal products.
