Favorable to Hezbollah, Austria summons Iranian ambassador

LONDON: Austrian specialists have gathered Iran’s emissary to the country after he posted a favorable to Hezbollah message via online entertainment.

The Austrian Service of International concerns addressed Iranian Diplomat Abbas Bagherpour with respect to a post on his web-based entertainment account that seemed to laud Hezbollah’s new airstrikes on Israel. The statement “Hezbollah will win” was accompanied by the Hezbollah flag, which is prohibited in Austria.

“We strongly condemn the use of the image of the Hezbollah flag in the Iranian ambassador’s message,” the Foreign Ministry stated.

Bagherpour has also been the subject of a complaint filed by the Security and Information Department of Austria. Since 2021, several EU nations, including Austria, have designated the Lebanese militia group Hezbollah as a terrorist organization.

Under Austrian regulation, advancing Hezbollah images, including its banner, is precluded. This law can be broken by paying a fine of up to €10,000 (11,158) or spending a month in prison, but Bagherpour is protected by diplomatic immunity, so it is unlikely that anyone will ever be sued.

In light of boundless analysis from Austrian ideological groups, Bagherpour eliminated the post. This episode follows a comparative contention last month including Ahmad Sadeghi, Iran’s representative to Australia. Sadeghi, who has over and over offered anti-Jewish expressions via web-based entertainment, posted on X about the “annihilation of Israel by 2027.”

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese issued a diplomatic rebuke in spite of opposition calls to declare Sadeghi persona non grata. Israel Safeguard Powers representative Daniel Hagari said on Monday that the military assessed that Hezbollah terminated around 230 rockets and in excess of 20 robots into northern Israel. He added, however, that the majority of the rockets and drones failed to reach their targets.
