Independent recording artist Josh Pfeiffer strikes a sentimental note with his latest music video and single ‘One More Time’, recently released on November 17th, 2018.
‘One More Time’ is the first offering that Pfeiffer has released in the Country music genre and continues a recent trend the artist has had of expanding away from his jazz roots.
Written by Pfeiffer, and co-produced once again by Pfeiffer and his close friend and collaborator David Schram, whom he has worked with on many previous occasions.
The multi-instrumentalist Schram, also plays the bass, rhythm guitar, and ukulele on the song. Rounding out the musicians are Josh’s original drummer David Hawkes, keys guru Kevin Jachetta, along with Nashville session guitarist Shawn Tubbs who is featured on peddle steel, and lead guitar.
The song was engineered, and mixed by Adam Munoz at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, California, and mastered by Ken Lee. The song is a piano-driven ballad that continuously builds momentum and intensity.
It is beautifully arranged to compliment and not overpower or distract from the vocals and the lyrics. And that is a stark and refreshing contrast in a current music industry that seems to favor louder, busier, and more electronic production.
Pfeiffer’s signature baritone shines as it delivers the message of timeless love, heartbreaking loss, and sentimentality that most of us experience at some point in this life. The video for the song is a world-class production.
It also was not what I was expecting.
The song itself is more general with the message and allows the listener to insert their personal story. The video, however, tells a specific story, and it tells it very well. Josh teamed up with five-time Emmy Award Winning Director Alejandro Guimoye for the third time to tell this latest story.
Guimoye does a masterful job, as does the entire video production team at Fallen Leaf Films including Cinematographer Michael Spranger, Aerials Videographer Asa Marinez, Production Assistant Johnny Mark, and Colorist Mike Burton. The video features actress Tara Pfeiffer who is married to Josh in real life. Tara is simply amazing in the dramatic starring role, and arguably steals the show in a production that is clearly not light on talent.
The song is already being received well by audiences internationally, reaching #1 on the British iTunes Country Music Chart the week of December 28, 2018, through January 3, 2019.
It also peaked at #38 on the British iTunes Main Chart and #57 on the British Official Chart Sales (The UK’s Billboard Equivalent).
This song also peaked in the United States at #92 on the iTunes Country Music Chart on December 17th.
To summarize, I’m not going delve into the plot of the video as it would spoil the ending. You’ll just have to watch the video for yourself, but it is definitely worth your time.
I’d recommend listening to the song first though on Spotify, or apple music etc. because I think each listener will experience the message of the song in a more personal and meaningful way.
