The district’s law enforcement watchdog is investigating a 23-year-old male that was hit “multiple times” during the course of a shootout with Toronto police officers inside Etobicoke Wednesday evening.
Law enforcement headed to an apartment or condo in Willowridge Road, close to Martin Grove Rd and Eglinton West, just before 11:30 p.m. in order to apprehend an individual, basing on a press release out of the Special Examinations Unit.
The release did not provide particulars regarding the reason that authorities needed to get this individual in custody.
“There was a swap of gunfire between the man & police officers, as the man was hit numerous times by police bullets,” the release stated.
The male was moved to medical facility with non-life-threatening personal injuries, the statement went on to say.
Although Toronto police officers can no longer provide feedback due to the fact that the SIU has brought up its mandate, yet, a representative for the police force tweeted during the time of the occurrence, that “10 to 20 gun shots were heard.”
Cops also took another male in to custody, CBC producer Tony Smyth disclosed this information directly from the scene.
At the same time, the SIU has dedicating 3 detectives and 2 forensic analysts to the case.
