Shrey Hospital fire: Traumatising experience, cannot forget the screams of the victims, say survivors

A significant number of the individuals who endure the fire at Shrey Clinic on Thursday that asserted eight lives are still damaged. There were 49 patients in the 50-bed emergency clinic at that point, eight of them in the ICU, situated on the fourth floor, which was totally burned. Forty-one Covid-19 patients, including 27 men and 15 ladies, and one paramedic staff of the medical clinic who supported wounds in the fire were moved to SVP emergency clinic after the occurrence.

Bhavin Shah (45), who was conceded on the fourth floor in a non ICU room, said the shouts of the consuming casualties despite everything frequent him. “I was unable to rest so I was alert and viewing an arrangement on my cell phone in my room No. 411 which I imparted to my brother by marriage and nephew, while my sister was in the adjoining room. Likewise, since the entryway of our room wasn’t shut, I could plainly hear the shouts,” he included. “At the point when I headed outside, I saw a medical clinic staff in PPE suit ablaze and running from the ICU. I ran towards my latrine to get water in the can yet when I came out, the individual was no more. At this point, it was all smoke in the ICU,” he said.

Shah and his brother by marriage Paresh B Shah (52), the two inhabitants of Paldi, were admitted to Shrey medical clinic on July 30, while his sister Nilam (50) and nephew Kunjan P Shah (25) got conceded on August 1. Rajendrakumar Adesara, 58, who was in the medical clinic with his mom for Covid-19 treatment, said a kindred 50-year-old patient was so damaged by the fire occurrence that she shivers at the sound of an emergency vehicle now. “The lady is so damaged by the fire episode and the shouts of clinic staff and patients that she shivers each time she hears some boisterous clamor like a rescue vehicle alarm,” Adesara said.

Shah said when he saw the fire in the ICU ward, he was the one to make a call to the fire station. “From the start, I shut the entryway of my room with the goal that the smoke doesn’t go into our room yet soon I understood on the off chance that we remain inside our room and the fire spreads, at that point we will have no other choice however to hop from the fourth floor. So we as a whole ran first floor and took covers with us,” said Paresh.

“The awful experience of this occurrence will perpetually stay with us, yet I am not having the option to overlook one specific picture of a man inundated on fire, shouting and running forever,” Bhavin said. Adesara’s 80-year-old mother Hasumatiben Keshavlal Soni, who was conceded in ward number 413, was among the all out six patients in the non ICU ward on the fourth floor. “We were profound sleeping when out of nowhere I heard somebody yelling from outside the ward. I woke up and went outside where I saw a man wearing a PPE pack immersed on fire and running. I promptly came back to my mom to wake her up,” Adesara said.

He brought his mom towards the steps and attempted to move down, “In this course, my mom fell on the steps and broke her left arm which is currently put. We didn’t utilize the lift,” he included. Khyati Solanki (44), occupant of Navrangpura who was conceded at Shrey clinic for the most recent four days, was on the main floor with almost 15 different patients. “One of the female nursing staff disclosed to me that there is a fire in the ICU. I woke an additional 70-year-old patient and we ran out,” said Solanki from SVP clinic.
