Cyclone Amphan Live Updates: ‘Amphan’ moving at a fast pace, next few hours very important, NDRF alert

Train to West Bengal cancelled

The storm is likely to pass near Kolkata

The Meteorological Department’s office said that ‘Amphan’ is expected to move towards north-northeast direction after reaching the Sundarbans and its eastern end is near Kolkata due to heavy damage and flooding in the lower areas of the city. is. The Meteorological Department said that the possibility of Amphan moving towards north-northeast direction and passing as a very severe cyclonic storm from Wednesday afternoon to evening between Digha and Hatia islands between West Bengal-Bangladesh coasts near Sundarbans is. During this time, the speed of winds will remain constant from 155 to 165 km per hour, which can intermittently catch 185 km per hour.

The Meteorological Department has issued an Orange Alert for West Bengal and warned that Kolkata, Hooghly, Howrah, South and North 24 Parganas and East Midnapore districts could suffer massive damage. The meteorological department has advised to close all institutions and markets in Kolkata and nearby areas on 20 May and ban the movement of people. Kolkata has been receiving moderate rainfall since morning with strong winds. In view of the cyclone, most people are in homes, so traffic on the roads was very less.

One died in Bhadrak, Odisha
