Plan B is being discussed worldwide to get rid of Corona. And this is Plan B. Herd immunity means spreading corona infection to as many people as possible to create collective resistance against corona. For this, at least 60% of people in any community should be infected.
While the leaders and scientists of many big countries are seriously considering this idea of herd immunity as a big weapon against corona, the World Health Organization has described it as dangerous.
During a press conference on Corona, the World Health Organization’s Health Emergency Director, Dr Michael Ryan, made it clear that it is wrong to think that any country will cast a spell on its population for Kovid 19, and then talk about herd immunity. It is done when you have to see how many people in a population need a vaccine. Corona is our enemy number one. All responsible member countries should give importance to every human being.
While discussing the issue further, the technical head of WHO’s Kovid 19 Response Team, Dr Maria Van Kerkhoff, said that if we look at the data so far, a very little part of the population is infected with corona. The ratio of antibodies in people is low, we use herd immunity when it comes to giving vaccines to people.
The idea of herd immunity came into the limelight around the world when the British government first hoped in March that herd immunity could be controlled by Corona, although many countries later criticized it. Apart from this, many countries including the US claim that Sweden is also adopting the idea of herd immunity to fight the corona in their country. The Swedish government never gave official confirmation on this, but the way Sweden has given many leeways amid the epidemic, it is believed that herd immunity is being adopted there.
