Mumbai: Shoojit Sircar’s ‘Gulabo Sitabo’ starring Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana, ‘Shakuntala Devi’ starring Vidya Balan, Jyothika starrer ‘Ponmagal Vandal’, among many other country-wide films like the country. The films will be premiered on Amazon Prime Video between the months of May and August. After the announcement of the upcoming premiere of Shoojit Sircar’s film Gulabo Sitabow, Amazon Prime Video has today announced six such long-awaited Indian films, which will be digitally telecast live.
The films will premiere exclusively on Prime Video over the next three months and will be available in 200 countries and territories around the world. Vijay Subramanian, director and content head of Amazon Prime Video in India, said, “We believe in Prime Video working on our consumers’ choices and that belief is the genesis of our latest offering.”

Direct-to-service slate of Amazon Prime Video: Ponmagal Vandal (Tamil) is a legal drama on Amazon Prime Video from 29 May starring Jyothika, Parthiban, Bhagyaraj, Pratap Pothen and Pandiarajan. The writer and director of this film is J.J. Fredrik and it is produced by Suriya and Rajasekhar Kapurrasundarapandian. Gulabo Sitabo (Hindi), on Amazon Prime Video from June 12

‘Gulabo Sitabo’, played by Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushman Khurana, is a family comedy, which depicts the daily struggle of the common man. The film was written by Juhi Chaturvedi and directed by Shoojit Sarkar and Ronnie Lahiri and Sheel Kumar are its producers. Penguin (Tamil and Telugu), Ishwar Karthik is the author and director of ‘Penguin’ starring Kirti Suresh on Amazon Prime Video from 19 June. The makers of this film are Stone Bench Films and Karthik Subbaraj.
Law (Kannada) is the author and director of ‘Law’ starring Ragini Chandran, Siri Prahlad and legendary actor Chief Minister Chandru on Amazon Prime Video from June 26, with Raghu Samarth and Nimarta being Ashwini and Puneet Rajkumar. French Biryani (Kannada) from July 24 on Amazon Prime Video
‘French Biryani’ stars Danish Sait, Sal Yusuf and Pitobash in the lead roles. It is authored by Avinash Balekkala, directed by Pannaga Bharana and produced by Ashwini, Puneet Rajkumar and Gurudutt A.D. There are swords. Shakuntala Devi (Hindi), release date is yet to be announced
‘Shakuntala Devi’ is played by Vidya Balan, a biographical drama based on the life of a writer and mathematician Shakuntala Devi, popularly known as Human Computer. This film is directed by Anu Menon. The film is produced by Sony Pictures Networks Productions and Vikram Malhotra.
Sufiyam Sujathayum (Malayalam), the release date is yet to be announced, starring Aditi Rao Hydari and Jayasurya. The writer and director of the film is Naranipuzha Shanavas and Nimarta are Vijay Babu’s Friday Film House.
