Nuclear Power Plants In India

One of the reasons that every country wants to have more Nuclear Power Plants is that it produces high amounts of electricity without damaging the environment and atmosphere.

Currently, India possesses twenty-two nuclear reactors. Out of which seven power plants, with a total capacity of 6,780 MW. According to today’s business news headlines, the existing units are operating at their rated capacity.

“Nuclear power plants are more eco-friendly than many of our other current energy sources, including thermal power plants and hydro-power plants which may cause damage to the aquatic ecosystem”, sources claimed.

The strength of Indias new nuclear power plants

India has a plan to build 21 new nuclear power plants by 2030. Currently, India holds twenty-two nuclear reactors. Out of which seven power plants, with a total capacity of 6,780 MW.

According to today’s business news, the existing units are operating at their rated capacity.

Mr. Vyas spoke, to the India Energy Forum’s Nuclear Conclave and proclaimed that 17 new reactors are currently in the pipeline, with seven reactors under construction.

In the last year, he said that India will have 21 nuclear reactors by the year 2030, adding that work has been going on as per schedule.

Mr. Vyas who is Chairman of the AEC (Atomic Energy Commission) added that “we will be moving to the fleet mode for constructing nuclear reactors. This will reduce construction costs and multiply the work speed of reactors”.

The Indian Government is determined to grow its nuclear power capacity and will include it in its infrastructure development program.

According to the first news, Mr. Vyas said that “we are working hard to increase our nuclear capability and due to our efforts, India is the 7th largest in the world for nuclear power”.

Minister of State Jitendra Singh said that “awareness for the people about the facts of nuclear reactors and its energy needs to be started”.

He said, “nuclear energy is a source that can create an easier lifestyle for people, and is a great source of energy without any environmental harm”.

Former AEC (Atomic Energy Commission Chairman) Anil Kokoda told media that India can accelerate its nuclear program by the massive amount if he gets a large sum of imported uranium.

Referring to the waiver of the Nuclear Suppliers Group or NSG to India in 2008, he said the nuclear program now has much fewer constraints.

India decided to join NSG in 2016, and recently the United States has decided to improve its relationship with India as part of the agreement of 2008. On the other hand, some say that “the increased budget of defense and nuclear weapons is a sign of danger for south Asia”.
