Apple Maps will provide data of people’s movement during lockdown

Apple has released access to its navigation data tool with governments to fight coronaviruses. This will help prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Technology company Apple has announced to give government entities and public health authorities access to navigation data to help fight coronaviruses. This information is provide by the company’s CEO Tim Cook through his Twitter handle. Through the navigation tool Apple will know about the movement of people during lockdown. Installed maps in all Apple iPhones models will allow you to know the trend of movements during lockdown. The advantage of this will be that information about any coronavirus is coming up.

Due to this Maps, users using iPhone devices will be able to know about driving, walking or public transit. Apple will update the data of the movement of each of its users on a daily basis. Also, movements from the middle of January to now can be compared. Like India, there is a lockdown at the moment. Apple said that 90 percent of Americans are currently living in homes. Lockdown has been done in many countries all over the world, not just America, so that this coronavirus epidemic can be avoided.

This data collected by Apple Maps will be available on public websites. Movements made during the coronavirus lockdown can be tracked through data from large cities in 63 countries around the world. Apple said that the data of maps will be aggregate, due to which information of an individual user will not appear in it. The company will make the movements available on the Collectively website.

In addition, Apple is donating 1 million face masks per week to the Public Health Department and government institutions to fight the coronavirus epidemic. These face masks are donating specifically for front line warriors such as medical professionals. Apart from this, the company is also providing other help to the medical department in the US.
