Hess shares have fallen the most in 20 months. As a result of the prolonged new delay to its proposed sale to Chevron, shares of U.S. oil producer Hess (HES.N) experienced their largest daily percentage drop in 20 months on Thursday.

A discretion board coordinated to hear an Exxon Mobil (XOM.N), challenge to the $53 billion deal won’t meet until next May, pushing back any end until the final part of 2025.

The two organizations initially had wanted to close the consolidation prior this year.Hess’ stock fell $11.25, or 7.35%, the biggest everyday rate drop since November 2022.

In midday New York trading on Thursday, Chevron shares were also down 4%, or $6.57, to $153.93. CNOOC Ltd. and Exxon (0883. HK) claimed a pre-emption right to any sale of Hess’ lucrative stake in a Guyana oil-producing joint venture in arbitration claims. Chevron’s biggest deal in more than two decades could be delayed due to the challenge.
