The leadership of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has extended their heartfelt condolences and unwavering solidarity to the Kingdom of Morocco in the wake of a devastating earthquake that has exacted a heavy toll on the nation.

This seismic event, which occurred in the southwestern region of Marrakesh, has left in its wake a tragic loss of life, with hundreds of individuals losing their lives and sustaining injuries of varying degrees of severity. In the face of this profound tragedy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) of the UAE has issued an official statement, expressing profound condolences to the government and the citizens of Morocco, as well as the grieving families who have been directly impacted by this calamity.

Additionally, the MoFA has conveyed its fervent hopes for the swift recovery of all those who have been wounded in this catastrophe.

The leaders of the UAE, including President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who serves as both the Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and the Ruler of Dubai, have personally reached out to offer their condolences and support to Morocco during this trying time. President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in a post shared through an undisclosed platform, conveyed his condolences to his esteemed counterpart, King Mohammed VI of Morocco, as well as to the victims who have been affected by this devastating earthquake.

His message radiates empathy and compassion, as he expresses deep sorrow at the incident and extends the UAE’s steadfast support to Morocco in this hour of adversity, invoking divine protection for the nation. In a parallel gesture, Sheikh Mohammed also took to an undisclosed platform to extend his heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the Moroccan people, who are enduring the harrowing aftermath of this natural disaster.

His words reflect a shared sense of fraternity and solidarity with Morocco, beseeching divine intervention to bestow patience and solace upon the affected populace, while fervently wishing for their safety and security.

The catastrophic earthquake that struck the High Atlas mountains of Morocco unfolded late on a fateful Friday evening, leaving a trail of devastation in its wake.

The grim toll of human lives lost has thus far reached a preliminary count of 296, with an additional 153 individuals reported as having sustained injuries during the seismic upheaval. It is worth noting that many of these casualties occurred in remote mountainous regions, rendering access and rescue efforts challenging and complex.

This heartfelt outpouring of support and condolences from the UAE leadership underscores the bonds of friendship and solidarity that exist between the two nations. In times of profound sorrow and adversity, such expressions of sympathy serve as a testament to the enduring ties that bind nations and peoples together, offering solace and hope amidst the darkest of hours.

As the affected regions of Morocco grapple with the aftermath of this earthquake, the international community stands united in extending their support, prayers, and assistance to help alleviate the suffering and aid in the recovery process.
