Filmmaker Prakash Jha is ready to make his debut in the OTT world, with his upcoming web collection. ‘Aashram’ which features Bobby Deol playing the primary lead. The web collection will be releasing on MX player on twenty eighth August 2020. The director revealed details about his web collection in an exclusive interaction with ETimes.
Revealing about ‘Aashram’, Prakash Jha said, “It is a web series which was brought to me by MX Player and it’s a very extensive story written by Habib Fazal. He has taken a very good take on innocent people putting their faith in some kind of criminally-minded people who masquerade as spiritual gurus. The character of Bobby Deol was nothing about religion or dharam, in fact, he was a criminal.”
He further added- “His character has the charisma of making people believe. In India, there’s such a huge wealth of spiritual gurus and there’s a huge history and mythology behind them that we trust and respect them. Sometimes these spiritual gurus take advantage of this respect and trust. Also, the take of the story is that if you don’t question anything and put your faith in it blindly, eventually you will suffer. So, this was the aspect of the story which attracted me and that’s why I decided to do it.”
Prakash Jha told why he chose Bobby Deol for this role. He told, “I chose Bobby Deol because there is such a positive image of him. You know, I was also an actor so I understand that we all die to do things which are different. It’s amazing if you get to play different shades of characters.”
There were few reports about Prakash Jha thinking to make a sequel to ‘Raajneeti’. Confirming about the same, he said. “It’s a natural kind of process and Rajneeti is a never-ending subject. Because the script has been ready for some time. But I have been getting involved and busy with other things. I hope it happens and I would like it to happen.”
