National award winner, Anand Gandhi released the poster of his upcoming movie “Emergence”. On the occasion of his successful completion of seven years in the industry, he announced his new project.
Anand who is a phenomenal filmmaker made his debut with ‘Ship of Theseus’ in the Indian film industry. His first movie was premiered in 2012, at Toronto Film Festival. The film was awarded the best feature film honour at the 61st National Film Awards in 2014, starring Neeraj Kabi, Sohum Shah and Aida El-Kahsef.
The Filmmaker highlighted that the idea of confluence of mankind and environment set the foundation for his story. He mentions that he began writing this with this prompt, “How do you know where you end, and where your environment begins.” With this prompt, he began writing Emergence in 2015. After 5 years project is finally ready for production as extensive research and writing have finally come to an end.
“It’s the ultimate distillation of all my life’s epiphanies and insights,” Gandhi revealed to the media. Explaining the movie further, he said that he might have to make certain amendments considering the current pandemic situations. Gandhi told in an interview, “Earlier we had planned to give information about the nature of a pandemic through the film. Now that we all know what it’s like to be in the midst of one, I don’t have to educate the audience about its nuances. So, we have had to make some changes in the script.”
The movie involves four scientists who try to save the world from the deadly pandemic which falls upon the world. The movie is set to hit big numbers as people can relate to the story and Anand’s work will be a bonus for the viewers.
