Sonam Kapoor has started a new Instagram series where she talks about inspirational female actresses of the Indian film industry. Her series is called, WOMEN OF FILM. In her recent post, she spoke about Mary Ann Evans, who was also known as Fearless Nadia and called her the female version of Robin Hood.
The daughter of Anil Kapoor who is known for her flawless fashion looks and her bold comments is often seen active on social media platform either to speak about certain issues or to engage with people. After the termination of almost every outdoor activity, film celebrities have taken the social media space to keep their audiences entertained. Due to the void created by the lockdown, celebrities are using social media platforms to educate and entertain people.
With her new Instagram series, Women of film, Sonam is trying to pay her tributes to the brilliant contributors of the Indian cinema, one such contributor was, Nadia. The Neerja actor highlighted that she was the first female actor who decided to do all her stunts herself. She mentioned that she was so inspiring and gained massive popularity in a male-dominated industry.
While talking about Nadia’s journey and life in her Instagram caption, Sonam Kapoor wrote, “I don’t know how you guys feel, but I’m blown to bits! She even mentioned the gender stereotype attached to stunts. She said, Even now, physical combat is seen as something that only men are supposed to do in films. Running on trains and fighting the enemy or even working the whip – these are seen as things the “hero” does to win”.
In the 30s, she came to India from Australia and managed to learn the language, learned the craft and challenged the norm at that time where women did not have access to the opportunities.
Sonam was even vocal about her feminist roles in the industry and her brilliant filmography.
