Amid Nepal’s recent border dispute with India, Manisha Koirala has shared a controversial tweet on Twitter, as well as trying to bring China to the dispute. Taking cognizance of her tweet, lawyer and former foreign minister Swaraj Kaushal, husband of Sushma Swaraj, has responded. Kaushal, former Mizoram governor, asked Manisha why she had brought China to India amid the dispute between India and Nepal over differences between India and Nepal. Nepal on Wednesday released its new map of disputed areas such as Lipulekh, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura as part of its territory. In addition to tweeting in support of Nepal, Manisha had also brought China to the border dispute with India on the said areas.

Manisha Koirala has endorsed the tweet that included disputed areas in Nepal’s Foreign Minister Pradeep Gyawali’s map. Manisha tweeted in reference to India, Nepal and China, ‘Thank you for maintaining the dignity of our small nation. We all now look forward to the peaceful and dignified dialogue between the three great countries. ‘ Born in Kathmandu, Manisha is the daughter of Nepali politician Prakash Koirala. His grandfather Bisheshwar Prasad Koirala was Prime Minister of Nepal from 1959 to 1960. After Manisha’s tweet, Swaraj Kaushal told Manisha a story of ‘difficult situations’ that she has ‘seen’ with her family.

He reminded Manisha of the premiere of his 1994 film 1942: A Love Story and said that he could not ‘stop to watch the film’, while Sushma Swaraj and her daughter Bansuri watched the film. The film directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra was based on the background of British Raj in India.

He wrote, ‘I cannot argue with you. I have always considered you as my daughter. When you invited us to the premiere of 1942 A Love Story, I could not stop to watch the film. Yes, Sushma Swaraj and flute saw the film. It was 27 years ago. You attended APJ School South Extension in Saket. Your father Prakash Koirala is like my brother and your mother Sushma Koirala is like a sister-in-law. We have seen difficult situations together’.
