This week, NATO’s Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy, Ambassador Bettina Cadenbach, travelled to Israel, where she met with a range of officials from Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Defence, and the National Emergency Management Authority.
The visit was part of Ambassador Cadenbach’s regular consultations with her Israeli counterparts and provided the opportunity for an exchange of views on current security issues, and on the long-standing and mutually beneficial partnership between NATO and Israel, which is based on political dialogue and practical cooperation.
Ambassador Cadenbach stressed NATO’s determination to work with like-minded partners, such as Israel, in the current challenging security environment. She highlighted the Alliance’s readiness to enhance political dialogue and continue working with Israel on several areas of mutual interest, including resilience, the impact of climate change, disruptive technologies, Women, Peace and Security, and cyber and hybrid threats.
During her stay, Ambassador Cadenbach also met with the Allied Ambassadors, through the Slovak Embassy, which is the current NATO Contact Point Embassy in Israel. Political dialogue and practical cooperation with partners based on mutual respect and interests, as emphasized in NATO’s new strategic concept adopted at the Madrid Summit last June, contributes to cross-border stability. strengthen domestic security and support NATO’s core deterrence missions.
